Elisabeth has trained in agricultural techniques in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Elisabeth’s story is one of overcoming challenges. She is one of the key players in the development cooperation projects we carry out at CODESPA.
Elisabeth Shashire lives in the village of Malehe, in Kamuronza (Democratic Republic of the Congo). She was born into a family and community that, for generations, have lived in poverty. Most of this community engages in subsistence farming and must face various problems. The most pressing are three: the land is infertile, they lack tools, and the long distances prevent them from selling the little they produce.
Our protagonist has learned about agricultural technologies and the use of farm tools affordable for her community, such as the campagnole. By applying these lessons to the fields they work, a substantial change has been generated in her village.
In total, 888 farmers have participated in this project and have increased their production by more than 400% every year for the past three years.
