New charity cinema from CODESPA Catalunya: “Once upon a time my mother”
Our charity film previews are events we eagerly anticipate. At these screenings, we gather with friends, partners, and collaborators of CODESPA Catalunya to enjoy a pleasant time and watch great films. They also provide an opportunity to discuss our work and raise funds to continue it.
This time, we’ll be watching a beautiful and heartwarming French film based on true events. Titled “Once Upon a Time, My Mother”, it’s directed by Ken Scott and stars Leïla Bekhti, Jonathan Cohen, and Jeanne Balibar, among other actors.

Why is it important that you come?
At CODESPA, we have been working for 40 years to help people living in extreme poverty and vulnerability. We provide them with training, financial services, and help them access the market, giving them a chance to find decent work and become self-sufficient. This way, they can break out of the cycle of poverty they find themselves in and, at the same time, help their families and communities prosper.
Since 1985, we have helped nearly 6 million people and we would like to reach many more. This is where you can help us. We encourage you to come to our charity preview and bring friends, family, and colleagues with you. The more we are, the better. The funds raised at this event will contribute to further developing our development cooperation projects to provide opportunities for people in situations of social exclusion.
Synopsis:
Paris, 1963. Roland, the youngest of six children, is a special child. According to doctors, he will never walk, but his stubborn mother, Esther, simply refuses to accept it. Through an equal combination of unwavering faith and exceptional denial, she is determined to defy any adversity to succeed.
We would like to thank MOOBY Cinemas and A Contracorriente Films for their collaboration, which made this charity event possible by providing us with the theater and the film, respectively.
