40 years transforming lives: CODESPA celebrates its anniversary with an unforgettable charity concert
2025 is a very special year for CODESPA. We are celebrating 40 years of providing opportunities to vulnerable communities in Latin America, Africa, and Asia and transforming lives. To date, we have helped 6 million people improve their incomes. We have done this by offering training, financial services, and access to markets, enabling them to break free from the cycle of extreme poverty.
Throughout these years, you have been with us, and your support has been essential to carrying out our work. Therefore, we would love to celebrate this significant milestone with you.
A Swing Night to Continue Changing Lives
On Tuesday, December 9th, we await you at 9pm at the Luz de Gas venue in Barcelona (Muntaner Street, 246), where we will enjoy a fantastic concert. We will have the invaluable collaboration of Susana Sheiman, Ignasi Terraza, Horacio Fumero, and Esteve Pi, who, after several years, reunite to present their collaborative work, Swing Appeal, released by Swing Records.
A concert full of elegance, swing, and connection, where Susana’s powerful voice and Ignasi’s unmistakable piano style will come together once again to offer an unforgettable evening. Accompanied by Horacio Fumero on double bass and Esteve Pi on drums, the quartet invites us to enjoy an exquisite selection of jazz classics with fresh and vibrant arrangements that reflect the purest essence of this genre. Their onstage rapport guarantees an evening of high artistic quality and a profound connection with the audience.
A must-see event for jazz lovers.
The profits from this charity concert will allow us to support the project Development of Agroecological Production to Combat Drought in Southern Angola. With this initiative, we aim to improve the living conditions of rural communities in the province of Cunene, affected by drought, through an agroecological production model that aligns food production with the regeneration of degraded ecosystems.

Four figures of Spanish jazz come together for an evening of swing and elegance
The quartet formed by Susana Sheiman, Ignasi Terraza, Horacio Fumero, and Esteve Pi brings together four of the most prominent figures in Spanish jazz. With established careers and a rapport forged over years of shared stages, they offer a unique combination of swing, elegance, and emotion.
Susana Sheiman is a jazz singer who incorporates nuances of gospel and soul. Her voice has been hailed as one of the most important on the Spanish jazz scene. She has collaborated with saxophonist Toni Solà’s quintet and with the Barcelona Jazz Orchestra. She has also performed with international jazz figures such as Jesse Davis, Brad Leali, Frank Wess, and Nicholas Payton, as well as with the Spanish musicians Pedro Iturralde and Juan Carlos Calderón. She released her first solo album, Swing Appeal, with Ignasi Terraza’s trio.
Ignasi Terraza is one of Spain’s most prominent jazz pianists with a strong international presence. In 2009, he won first prize at the Jacksonville International Jazz Piano Competition in the United States. His extensive discography comprises over 60 recordings, half of which are under his own name, released in Spain, France, Switzerland, and Japan. Ten of these recordings feature his trio.
He has accompanied renowned artists such as Frank Wess, Lou Donaldson, Benny Goldson, John Faddis, and Jesse Davis, among others. His trio featured musicians like Bobby Durham, Jeff Hamilton, Gregory Hutchinson, and Pierre Boussaguet. He regularly performs on the European circuit and has toured South America, the United States, and East Asia.
His style stems from the jazz tradition with influences such as Oscar Peterson and Ahmad Jamal, among others, with a background of European classical music, to develop his own voice with a very personal sound full of virtuosity, in music where the rhythmic force of swing and the sensitivity of his expression stand out.
Horacio Fumero is a jazz double bassist with extensive experience. He studied in Buenos Aires and at the Geneva Conservatory, participating in European tours with Gato Barbieri from 1973. In Barcelona, he was a member of pianist Tete Montoliu’s resident trio for 16 years. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with international jazz greats such as Freddie Hubbard, Johnny Griffin, Woody Shaw, and Benny Golson. In the flamenco-jazz genre, he has worked with artists such as Chano Domínguez, Martirio, Chicuelo, and Mayte Martín. He also teaches at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC).
Esteve Pi is a jazz drummer whose collaborations and training place him among the leading figures in the genre in Spain. He began his musical studies in the Falset municipal band, then trained at the Taller de Músics in Barcelona, and received scholarships to study in New York with masters such as Joe Farnsworth and Kenny Washington. He has performed internationally in numerous countries (USA, Japan, Brazil, South Korea, Senegal, etc.) and has shared the stage with musicians such as Johnny Griffin, Phil Woods, Benny Golson, Scott Hamilton, and Jesse Davis, among others. He has also collaborated with pianists and projects such as that of Ignasi Terraza.
