Starting point

The project is being developed in Tetouan, a municipality experiencing a population explosion due to intense rural immigration. Tens of thousands of rural residents live in extremely precarious conditions in the city’s outlying neighborhoods. Residents have limited resources, and basic infrastructure, such as health care and education, is severely limited.

Objective

The project’s goal is to provide the Tetouan municipality with a job mediation and guidance system in various centers located in vulnerable neighborhoods. This will ensure that young people have access to various public and private guidance products and services, enabling them to access decent employment and/or self-employment.

What is the project about

The local government is working to reduce social problems and improve the economic situation of the population, especially young people with disabilities (needing to study, work, or receive training), women, and migrants.

CODESPA, in collaboration with Barcelona City Council and its local partner ATIL, seeks to strengthen the Tetuán municipality in creating a system of guidance and access to decent jobs that benefits young people in vulnerable and precarious situations, particularly those living in outlying neighborhoods.

To this end, work is being done to launch an employment office in the Tetuán municipality, with the participation of:

  • 20 employees from the Department of Social Action receive support and guidance in establishing a local system for professional guidance and integration, engaging and creating synergies with various public and private stakeholders.

  • 500 young people have access to workshops on job guidance, job placement, and skills development, with practical modules on CV writing, job interview preparation, and more

In addition, awareness-raising workshops are held with the private sector in Tetouan to promote the Commune’s orientation programs and the professional integration of young people in vulnerable situations.

All of this is achieved through a human rights and gender-based approach, with the aim of promoting youth economic, civic, political, and cultural participation. It also fosters inclusive, peaceful, and democratic citizenship, ensuring conditions for them to live with dignity.
