We premier a new charity film at Fundació CODESPA Catalunya: "I swear"

We’re starting the year with a new film from the Fundació CODESPA Catalunya’s charity previews: I swear. Based on the inspiring true story of John Davidson, a champion and activist for Tourette syndrome, it sensitively and humorously captures the life of a man who transformed social stigma into strength and visibility for a previously little-known community.

At our social events, friends, partners, and collaborators of CODESPA Catalunya gather to have a good time and, in this case, also to enjoy great cinema. Furthermore, the funds raised at this charity preview will allow us to help Provide vocational and employment training to vulnerable young women in Tshikapa Sami, Kasai Province, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Why is it important that you come?

For 40 years, at CODESPA we have carried out economic development cooperation projects to eradicate poverty in disadvantaged countries. We help vulnerable people access decent and stable employment, become self-sufficient, and support their families. To achieve this, we provide them with specialized training and skills development, financial services, and market opportunities.

We have already helped more than 6 million people escape poverty. And we would like many more to have the same opportunity. Your collaboration is invaluable. Because every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference.

Will you join us for our charity preview?

Synopsis:
Based on a true story, I swear  is a moving and uplifting account of the life of John Davidson, a Tourette syndrome activist who grew up with the condition in 1980s Scotland, a time when it was little known and misunderstood. Featuring outstanding performances from Robert Aramayo, Peter Mullan, Shirley Henderson, and Maxine Peake, I swear  is a heartfelt, funny, and poignant story about the transformative power of friendship and community.
